Today is a sad day for me. For eight years I have been very proud of our country’s leader. I have been proud to be associated with him and proud of the majority of what he had said, fought for and ultimately the kindness and integrity in which he did it. Today I am sad because I am not proud of what our country has done and who we have lifted up to be our leader. Today is a call to action, a call to movement and a call to the very core principles of our faith. Today is a call to resist. So here is my pledge: I resist because Jesus said that the truth will set you free, he did not build platforms on deceit and embolden a “post-truth” world I resist because Jesus said that he had come to set the oppressed free, he did not single out minorities, diminish their neighborhoods and characterize whole people groups as rapists and violent criminals …
